Electric Fireplaces have definitely improved over the last decade.Not only do they provide the warmth, they also have realistic looking flames. Some Electric Fireplaces have wood, and glowing embers that look so real you almost have to take a closer look! These units are crafted with detailed wood, and some may even offer hearths that are distinctive to a certain time period.
Early Electric Fireplaces were electric, but not much of a fireplace. In the early 70s, my parents unit had fake looking wood, and a light bulb surrounded by an orange plastic cylinder that had shapes of flames on it. As it rotated on a noisy motor, it projected the shape of the flickering flames against the back, wow! But it had a built-in bar and a stereo, so that was cool.

But after the fire's out, then come the clean up, oh, did I mention the chopping of the wood, store-ring of the wood, or even the purchase of the wood. How about getting the flu and chimney cleaned.
Electric Fireplaces offer the convenience of having the option of placing them in any position against a wall to fit in nicely with the rest of your decor, even if you decide to change the arrangement. Wherever there's an electrical outlet, there's the potential for an Electric Fireplace!
