If viewing in other rooms sometimes the problem is reflections. So add accent lighting with opaque shades or have them controled with dimmers or three-way switches.

In childerens bedrooms where homework is often done or you have a home office, the light source should be at least 15 inches above the suface. There are currently many styles of accent lighting available for bathrooms today. How about decorative wall sconces on either side of the mirror or a dramatic fixture above the mirror. If you require the proper light for reading and you go with a floor lamp, hieght from the floor to the lower edge of the shade should be about four feet.
